Posted about this car before spilling all its water out, turned out to be a duff radiator so bought brand new one, put on, water loss problem cured (besides a tiny drip from one of the pipes where it joins the radiator yet to be sorted out).

BUT NOW the week I got it (a fortnight ago) hubby done an oil change and replaced filters etc, put 3 litres of new oil in, which took it up to top(ish) x on dipstick. Today he checked the oil it's right down to the very first x on the dipstick and it took another 2 litres to get it back up to nearly top x.

He's been underneath there doesn't appear to be any leak, there's no noticable oil on the engine anywhere and it never smokes or chokes or anything weird. but surely this can't be normal can it ?

Thanks.

not a smarty pants with all this lol but from bleeding brakes and such maybe it says its full but after a run around the oil has got around the car and there for gone down a little but is still in the car if you know what i mean :) if there is no leaks i bet if you top it back up it will stay there :)

I'd be concerned if he did a filter and oil change and only used 3 litres. It takes 4.5 litres to fill it back to the max line on a filter change.

5 litres is too much. Check that level again.
