not a smarty pants with all this lol but from bleeding brakes and such maybe it says its full but after a run around the oil has got around the car and there for gone down a little but is still in the car if you know what i mean if there is no leaks i bet if you top it back up it will stay there

 

If you put a new oil filter on it will fill with oil when you start the engine, so that would cause the level to drop, not sure by how much though.

 

I think you will find that a filter and oil change will require five and a half litres to refill not 3, so this may be giving you concern for a small mistake

I would think 3 is to little if nothing was in there to begin with.

 

I'd be concerned if he did a filter and oil change and only used 3 litres. It takes 4.5 litres to fill it back to the max line on a filter change.

5 litres is too much. Check that level again.

 

Yes 4.5 litres for an oil change, the old memory aint what it used to be.
I was thinking back to when I rebuilt my engine, just wasn't enough in a 5 litre can.

 

Thanks for all the help, I hope then that now it's back up to the correct level it may not drop again, i'll check it again in a few days.

 

He either checked the level on a hill/jacks or the old woman dipstick trick, holding it upside down and the oil runs down to max
