As it's a service you could arrange to meet somewhere outside congestion charge zone where there are no parking fees?

You could even do it on my drive if you want, I'm close enough to Russell to avoid travel costs (unless his policy has changed since last year)

Thanks! I have a friend who lives near Chelmsford, he has a house with a garage and everything. Next time I need something done, I'll arrange to get it done there. For this service session, I've already booked the car with one of the MG specialists in Surrey. That said, I've done so many things to the car during the last couple of weeks that I am not sure there is anything left to be done lol! (there always is)

Can anyone recommend a nationwide mechanic for a service other than mgroversolutions (preferably down south) as we have tried contacting Russell through the book now form on website and phone (using the number that appears on google search, no idea if its up to date though) a few times and had no luck getting through.
Our TF has been off the road for the winter and needs an MOT before we can go out on the road today and on a day like today I really wish it was done by now!

Thanks

EuroCarParts have an offer on, upto 50% off, add your reg and get a price on the Oil and Filter, very easy job to do at home or a friends house.

Personally, I would avoid ECP. Many folks follow their discount codes in the belief that these discounts represent genuine savings over other competitors. Frequently not so, since the pre-discount prices are simply inflated, and you can buy the parts cheaper with other on line factors even after the discount has been applied!
Filters? The quality of filters is of paramount importance, and again I only use Mann or Bosch if not using ‘dealer’ parts. ECP sell Crossland filters, and it is reputed they bought the brand name of this once very respected brand. Of course such brand names suggest ‘quality’ to those who recall the brand. Now??? Well again I would not touch them.
Kind regards,
Austin.

I have used their own brand of QX oil and never had a single issue, as for filters I mostly end up with MANN or COMLINE from them, main brands and decent quality, again, I have never had an issue with the filters, as for the price, its easy to do a google or ebay search and compare so you know if it is a good deal or not, plus they offer FREE postage, I use the click and collect a lot.

Even without a discount code they are always cheaper on service parts than Halfords, plus CarParts4Less is the same company and again you can compare price and use the same account details as the ECP account, very handy, the local independant motorfactors are much more expensive, its your choice not to use them but have you ever used them and do you have a previous grievance or is it a 'too good to be true' mentality?

I am genuinely curious.

Hello Rover25X,
I will try to satisfy your curiosity, but I don’t think a I am really going to succeed.

I certainly do not have any history of a grievance with ECP, and in fact when I have used them in the past - on odd occasions when they have been competitive, brand for brand - I have indeed been satisfied with their service.
However, I have never used them on an automatic assumption (in caps) that their prices are cheaper than competitors even when their (constant?) discount codes are applied.
My experience points me in the direction where their subsidiary Car Parts4 Less are often more competitive.
Using their QX brand vs. other recognised brands at a couple of £s dearer per 5litres? Sorry, but I’ve never considered the couple of £s saved over an annual oil change to be something that interests my wallet.
FREE ( your caps) delivery has now become the norm from UK suppliers - so little incentive to automatically use ECP for that reason.
Click and Collect? Never really saw the benefits of this, when for the same price, goods can be delivered to your door.
Halfords prices vs ECP. Of course, no one would really argue with that, and that didn’t form part of my post.
I hope some of the above satisfies your curiosity.
Kind regards,
Austin.
