Just got some new front tyres on my ‘F’ Trophy. They are 195 / 45 / 16 (which is the recommended size) Goodyear Eagle GS – D3. However they are ‘rubbing’ on the inside edge of the wheel arch protector when on full lock. Anyone know if these are a wider tyre than the Eagle D2 they replaced? The suspension has been 'blown up' at the beginning of this year, so it is not sitting low.

Mine have always done this, despite loads of different tyre types (4 sets in 3 years :) ) Ii think its possible to heat up the arch liner with a heat gun / hairdryer and push it away from the wheel. Hold it there until it cools and it should stay in place.

I bought 2 new MGF's in 2001 one on 15" wheels/tyres one on 16" wheels/tyres both rubbed on full lock.
As said it happened to all the dealer fix/DIY fix a very hot hair dryer or paint stripper-heat gun but be carefull it soon melts then push to shape with a lenght of wood.
The question is how many times do you have fill lock on maybe only when parking.

I think it has to do with tracking, sometimes the garage would compensate on one side only instead of both sides evenly, e.g is your steering wheel staight horizontal when going in a straight line when driving, if I remember rightly my car stopped doing this after getting the 4 wheel alignment done:)

I had the same on my F when I first got it, only on full right lock though. As mentioned above it was the shelf arch liner rubbing. A few minutes with a heat gun to make thd liner supple and a small self tapping screw strategically placed cured the problem.

Good luck.

Rubbing tyres

The ride height is correct
Rubbing on inside edge of both tyres.
Tracking done when the tyres were fitted as per the MG manual and the steering wheel is in the middle.
I also appreciate it is only on full lock and it is not often on full lock (have to use full lock when getting it out of the drive) so I might give heating things up a try.
