Rover 75 - where is my towbar fuse?

2222 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  COLVERT
All packed up for a weekend away, kids in car, bikes on roof, rear cargo area full, pitch black outside and no power from towbar socket to caravan. Sorry kids, back home we go, youngest in tears :(
I know it's the socket and not the caravan thats at fault as I hooked up my car to a caravan next to me in the storage yard (my father in laws) and no lights there either.
Towbar receipt simply says...
Fuse: BAT
... and knowing nothing about electrics that means nothing to me.
Does anyone know where the fuse might be located, and if it isn't that I don't know what it could be.
It was all fine during our last outing at the end of Aug.
Thanks in advance,
Will

It does sound like a fuse has blown. Where it is situated would be hard to say. When I fitted a tow bar to my wifes car I took a power supply from the battery itself. I fitted an in line fuse six inches away from the battery.
If perhaps in the morning you could phone the place that fitted the tow bar. Maybe they have a standard place they normally fit the fuse.

Colvert.
Thanks.

I'd forgotten that the installer was a ignorant peice of **** having had to take the towbar back twice in the first year.
Water was getting to the control board and ******* it up.
Having had the rear light cluster off this weekend and seeing water in the bag in which he'd wrapped it up in I guess the same thing has happened again.

'BAT' = BATTERY?

The usual way is to place an in-line fuse from the BAT.
