Common problem especially after a long winter.

Rovernut had this problem at the Beaulieu meet, the bonnet release handle felt 'dead' and the bonnet wouldn't pop open.

This shouldn't happen if the car is properly serviced, but the bonnet pins and catches dry out and partially sieze up, causing poor operation of the catches and in severe cases, the bonnet will not open at all.

These catches need to be clean and well greased - this should happen at every service.....perhaps a good dousing of WD40 or similar before applying normal LM Lithium grease would be a good idea too.

and the bonnet pin, which is dry and devoid of any lubricant.

Both of these items should be clean and well greased, especially after a long salty winter.

It is also a good idea to check that your bonnet safety catch is well greased and free-moving at the same time.

Those are filthy!

Bit of oil and they should be fine. Did mine today, along with a bit of waxoyl in the box on the wing to help the slider move better.
