If the engine is labouring it can't be the clutch, howevere if the engine revs build up without the car gaining speed then it might be.

what is the mileage and when was it last serviced? I have heard of this problem before which was cured by a service and giving the car a good run every now and agian with a mixture of high speed (sticking to speed limits of course....), hills etc and only using quality fuels such as Shell/BP/Esso. My CDTi is aproaching 42,000 miles and runs better than ever.

Prices for a straight clutch assembly and slave cylinder replacement range around ÂŁ600 to ÂŁ700. Make sure you go to a recommended specialist as MGR made a number of modifications to the 75 clutch (which is a hydraulic and therefore non adjustable system) and you will want somebody who knows what they are talking about.

If your diesel is losing power for no apparent reason and you clutch is ok, get the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor looked at. They have been known to degrade over time and struggle to measure the amount of air being pulled into the engine.

hi,
sounds like you need a new clutch (not cheap)

clutch plate cover plate slave and sometimes master...

there is a modified clutch plate that we use at work (as some old ones squeeled when pulling away)

part number uqb000380 make sure if you get genuine parts thats the number on the clutch plate
