Mine is punctured and needs replacing. I have had a quote of around £430 all inclusive to have a new one supplied and fitted. Firstly in your opinions does that sound like a reasonable quote?

Secondly, if I can source a condenser myself, is it something I could fit at home or is it a major job (including welding I should imagine?). If so, how long would it take a garage to fit it and what would you estimate for labour charges?

Cheers! :=p:

The price is a bit strong. You can probably get a condenser for about £120 max and fit it yourself. Couple of links on my website www.autoaircon.net to sites that sell parts. No welding needed. It's made of aluminium so is pretty fragile. If you fit it yourself just make sure that you use new O rings at the joints. When it's fitted, whoever regasses the car needs to pull a vacuum for at least one hour as the system has been open to atmosphere and will have a lot of moisture hiding inside that needs to be boiled off.
