Rover 620SDI Advice Needed Dont Know What To Do

ok just spent 20 mins writing out my prob and lost it when i clicked preview so im gunna write the barebones again probably not a bad thing i went on abit

ok i brought this 620SDI diesel on a N

everything was fine for the 1st 2 months

then i noticed the srs light illuminated and the abs light randomly flashed

and at night the electrics ie the lights and dash would flicker so i took it to a rover specialist in olney bucks who said the alternator was overcharging the battery up to 16v when the lights were on. so after one battery change and a used alternator fitted i went to pick up my car from my local garage where i got the part fitted.

i drove it home turned the key and the engine would not shut off. so i took it back they said they noticed it and thought i knew about the problem. which i didnt so they said bring it back tomoro and stall it to stop it . so i did . went back to the car the next morning and i could hear a fast tempo ticticticticiticitic coming from somewhere between the alternator and the battery at a guess. went to start the car and my brand new battery is flat as a pancake . so they came over got it started took it away. this was 3 days ago. and they said the fault is still there and they cant find it. they are still investigating.

they have a good repuation. but still i dont wanna done over on summit i know nothing about. the fault wasnt there when they took it.

so any advise or a light to follow would be very much appriciated

right the fast ticking is perfectly normal, its the fuel pump ticking, if its not shutting off, then the fuel cutoff valve in the pump is probably shot, however this is replaceable.

check your brakelights, if either is out then it can cplay havoc with the SDI engine management system.

incidentally the car should be badged as SDI, the Ti was the 2.0 Turbo petrol with 200bhp.

see if the brake lights have blown again, perosnally I'd work my way round the earthing pouints on the car and clean each one up.

soemthing is draining power and it could be that its earth isn't connected properly
