Rover 600 Window Reg

Hi Chaps,

So I have done some googling and it seems window regulators are a big issue.

Would you say from this set of pictures this is the issue?

So, is this a 5 spanner rating?! or something I could have a go at.

Thank you

Looks like a reg problem; fiddly rather than difficult. Here's some notes I made last time I did one;

Remove door card

Remove door opener; take out screw; slide forward and out; undo the clip and pull out the push rod.

Remove two screws from the door handle and screw from bottom right of door

Remove clip from top LHS

Use remover to undo clips and then UNDO THE WIRES !!!

Remove glass

Lower window until holding bolts (10mm) line up with lower cuts outs then remove the two screws.

Raise glass and lift forward and out of door.

Remove 4 screws and speaker

MARK POSITION OF REGULATOR

Lower regulator to its middle position

Loosen 6 bolts10mm

Extract regulator from bottom RH hole

The 3 screws hold motor to regulator; one only accessible when motor at end point

When re-install regulator, connect and wind to mid point of crank; the gearbox is facing the installer

4 long bolts on crank assembly 2 short bolts on support bracket

The motor connects do not go to the door card but go back inside door through hole above speaker.

Thick wires; red-yellow and red-blue; Thin wires black and blue

Some people say that you can straighten a bent regulator, but IMHO, I'd go for a replacement.

Take off the triangular plastic cover from the inside of the door mirror as well, makes it much easier to get the door covers on and off. Plastic bit just pops off, no screws.

I straightened the arms on the regulator on mine, and made a replacement wheel. Greases the tracks well with sticky axle grease.

It could also be something as simple as the glass rubbers need lube. My driver's side kept popping out of the runners so I lubed the rubbers with GT85, put the glass back in the rubbers and all works fine. Worth trying that before stripping out the regulator.
My local branch of Boyes were selling silicone spray @ £2.00 for a large can recently.

Got a couple just for the 600's windows.:)
Window rubbers should be lubed at every service/oil change in my opinion.
