Hi all, as i also own a 600, i thought it would be a good idea to list together the common issues with the 600 range, for owners by owners sort of thing.

If people can list a usual problem with an answer it would be excellent, as i can compile a list and then put a structured closed sticky at the top of the page for people to see.

Or if someone has a how to guide, i can put these up as well, anything counts! good if your technically minded ;)

Please feel free to post them up, (useful information only please). If anyone has any info or questions etc.. contact me anytime.

Regards

Common problems:
Window mechanisms - they bend and break. Keep the window rubbers well lubricated with rubber lubricant to stop it happening.

Aerials don't extend/retract fully - Clean the aerial mast with solvent - NO LUBRICANT to be used on them. Masts are cheaply replacable - Rover/Xparts or E-bay.

brakes!!!

the worst design ever!! it took me a week to change them. however i should have got all the parts first and gone straight to a garage to press the new bearings rather than try with a 2lb hammer and a cloth!! lol.

if a "how to" is required i can do one? i have plenty of pikkies!!

oh i did the rears too if your interested? ( easy peasy by comparison though!! lol )
i did this unintensionally but its recommended NOT to change all 4 brake discs and pads at the same time . this is for bedding in purposes. they will be quite useless for 100's of miles, particularly performance or "fast road" style set ups.

Please do, if you make one up, post it up, and i will put together some sort of sticky thread with them in :)

And no your not a post whore lol, and information is grately received. What i will do is like in the diesel section, ill compile loads of information, tidy up the thread and have a main FAQ at the top for everyone.

Also a problem, not sure if its common, when we first had ours, if you turned the key to far in the barrell it sometimes stuck the alternator knocking out the electrics....

And the handbrake is a problem as well, with the caliper and the spring for the handbrake tightness, i.e. usually goes very crap, and fails to hold the car on anything steeper then a pebble

Hi there..I found a cat converter replacement on ebay. will give 8+ HP they say.Can you give me an advice about this? My Rover 600, 97 model, 1.8 lt. has more than 100k miles on meter. My problem is, it has a less trottle response. I change my spark plugs with twin cathode split fire brand from U.S.new leads, new distributor cap,I use semi synthetic oil,new air filter, new petrol filter,It is better than before but has a power like a 1.4 engine. Is there anything I can Do to improve my car performance? thank you.
