Rover 45 Rear Anti-Roll Bar Sizes?

I actually own a Honda Civic 1.8 VTI-S that shares the same body and some other parts with the 400/45. I am wanting to upgrade my rear anti roll bar as it is slightly bent (my fault:eyes: ) The existing one is 18 mm diameter, but I have been told that Rover make a 20mm diameter one as fitted to the 400/45. Apparently it fits but I need to get hold of the bar, drop links, and clamps that mount the car to the "L" shaped brackets on the chassis, I also need the "L" shaped brackets for the larger mounting clamps to fit too . I would get the bushes that fit under the clamps from Superflex (uprated). The main thing that I was wondering is what cars were fitted with the 20 mm diameter rear anti toll bar, I have a feeling that it is just the MG 45 ZS? If so is it just the 180 model or do other versions have this fitted. Just thought this may be a good upgrade as my car rolls to much, and I am led to believe that the MG ZR doesn't. I have already put Koni adjustables on and H&R springs but looking for something more. Companies like Whiteline do not make an uprated rear ARB for my car so that is not an option. The front one is fine on my car (I think) as this is 26 mm diameter, thicker than the MG ZS I think, just going to try some uprated bushes.

Thankyou for any help

Yes mine has the L shaped brackets, I am not sure if the ITR's anti roll fits actually, I have not heard of it being done? I know somebody off the Honda forum fitted a Rover rear ARB to his MB6. I am just trying to determine what car has the 20mm arb. If it is a normal 400/45 I could probably get it from a breakers yard, if its the ZS I will probably have to go to a Rover Dealers. Not such a bad thing as Rover dealers parts are very good compared to Honda's which are horrific. I am not sure what the beaks thingies are you mention jonnycoupe, but I can more or less be certain one will not be made for the MB6 as very few aftermarket parts are :(

Ok if you have the ZS ones you could either use a ZS180 or even a Rover Coupe model, or the Rover 220 Turbo hatch models. These are 20mm L shaped bracket versions.

The rear of most hondas is the same, the Rover400/45 is based pretty much on the EG chassis, same as a Integra and same as the ZS.

A good mod is to fit the poly urethane mounting bushes to take out the compliance and hence reduce the initial flex. Does your Civic use the balljoint or bush type endlinks to connect the control arm to the anti-roll bar?

Dont be fooled into thinking there not that much :) There just not listed on the US sites alot as they never had that model over there. You have civic suspension and Integra GSR running gear. Plenty of good stuff, its only really the rear anti-roll bar that throws up issues. A few users on Rovertech have the RoverEPC which is ideal for pricing parts, actually getting the parts from the dealer is another storey though :eyes:

Thanks for the helpful info again Tony much appreciated. The drop links on my car are the ball joint type ones. I have tried fitting superflex bushes that are for a Rover 420 and 400/45 18mm they were to big for my clamps though, and I had to machine them down. Just one of them is not fitting straight on one side as I bent my anti roll bar slightly (long story :shake: ). I just fancied trying a thicker one as I read that thicker bars even by just a small amount, like the 2mm mentioned here make a big difference! Thanks for the useful info though. I wonder if the Rover 18mm bar is the same as mine, as I guess if I wanted a new one it would be better than "sell a kidney" Honda prices! But still i think the thicker one would be a better bet if I could get hold of it.

That Comptech gear is really  looks as though it would probably fit, different type of mounting but sure it would work! Bet that is not that cheap though will have to have a look on the net. Thanks again!!
