Sounds like your garage took you round the back & pulled your trousers down! Where abouts are you?
I think the same, some of the prices don't seem bad but a lot of those jobs could have cost a lot less.
you must be very unlucky to have a head gasket fail on an L-series diesel.

Sounds like they saw you coming! I can't say that none of the work needed doing, but generally the L-series is a very reliable unit, and the prices do seem a little high.

Fuel filter - £10, takes a novice 15 mins to change tops.
MAF sensor - £100 for a new Pierbugh one I think, 10 mins to change.
CV Joints - £20 each
Cambelt kit - £130
Glow plugs - about a fiver each I think, the 4th is behind the fuel pump so perhaps a big charge for labour is justified, but most people just replace 3 of them - I'd have a check and see if you can tell if the 4th one has been changed!

Perhaps you've been unlucky with the car, and with your selection of garage
yeah my dad used him few times but we have realised his pricing has been excessive hence i no use him again i could have did the cv joints but i broke a bracing bar trying to loosen nut!.dont know wether its work while doing it as the fuel injector pump is noisy too and i lost power not been a good car for me!!.

there again its about brand new lol the joys.
