Hi all

Recently came across a old forum about sdi injectors in the mg l series engine to add more power

Not exactly sure what im looking for

Is this is?
Thanks

They have always been regarded as a quick and 'cheap' route to more power for the later L series engines. I put 'cheap' in inverted commas because they also result in significantly increased fuel consumption - the extra power has to come from somewhere, but the SDI injectors when used in the later engines do seem to produce more soot and smoke (excessive smoke = inefficient/incomplete combustion), so not all that extra fuel is producing extra power. MPG with the SDI mod seems to be not much better than the mpg for the petrol K series from the mpg figures that the diesel fans on here have posted in the past.

You will possibly find more information in threads within the diesel section of the 'Ask the Gurus' part of the forum.

I did assume that it would drop the mpg somewhat, they're supposed to be slightly larger nozzles i think.

Im working on getting a boost gauge so i can see what it does and add a few psi.
19 is supposed to be the goal
From what I have seen posted elsewhere, 19psi is the maximum upper limit - those who have tried running higher boost pressures have usually experienced engine failure further down the line.

Iirc after 19 you start to make less power
I have read a forum on making more power from that engine - remap, decat and better flow muffler, performance air filter, sdi injectors and increase in boost

I do plan on getting a electric boost gauge to fit onto the car before the injectors just to keep an eye on it, because the different injectors can change boost levels
