Hello i am hope someone can help me I am pulling my hair out i have inherited a 1993 216 Rover coupe i have no keys or fob for the car the car is unlocked tho that’s the good news the bad news it is currently sitting in a barn in a remote part of France and has been for the Last 12 months so there no way of getting a low low to it to transport it as the barns is pretty Much in the middle of a field so i have attempted to try to start it on arrival with my trusty tool box in hand i set about dismantling the column I tried to drill the barrel but with no success as steering wheel was in the way so i took the time to unbolt the ignition of the steering column once ignition was removed i unscrew The ignition switch of the back of the barrel success i thought i connect a charged battery sucked in a screw driver in the switch and turned to first click the radio came on second click the ignition came on (no engine check light ) Then tried to start it it did manage to turn over but then the ignition switch fell apart in my hands was not happy so i decide to cut the wires and try to hot wire the car i unplug what was left of the ignition switch and cut wires half way so I have ended up with the connectors with bare wires i plugged in the 2 conector back under the Dash i started to test wires did manage to sussed a few of the Circes out like windows but couldn’t get the radio on but When i got the ignition on i have a buzzing coming from a relay by the steering column under the dash engine check light was on and the rev count bounced straight to 3000 revs which i am guessing is some kind or error code ? So I decided to try to put the ignition back together after collecting all the little parts and hour of time i manage to get the switch back together i had connected all the wires back together I plugged it back in of course first switch no radio second switch ignition come on with engine check Light and rev counter bounced straight to 3000 revs but no buzzer this is when I packed up and came back home yes all the way to the uk since then i have purchased whole new lock set and fob so i can try and new ignition i suspect that it will do the same if anyone has any ideas plz
let me know or if you could answer the following questions that might help i am trying to prepare for next time i try to go collect it
is the rev count bouncing straight to 3000 revs an error code ?
dose the immobilizer kick in after 30 sec after its been switch off ??
Can i program a fob without the car?
are there any fuse/relay that i could of blown?
there is a way to disable alarm and immobilizer witch is a sequence of key turns in the driver’s door lock but i don’t have the code as rover
