i have a rover 214 1998. i was driving the other day, with the battery clips loose, whilst i was driving, the car cut out, but had no red lights on the dash, ecept the srs and handbrake! when i try to restart it no red lights appear, but fuel pump and electrics seem to work fine! it can be push started, but it cuts out when you use anything electrical, or if you disconnect the bett whilst running..... i few people said its a relay fuse, or a bad earth? can you help me please???

you may have a dodgy engine earth aswell, check the earth strap from the starter motor to the slame pannel near the battery, sounds like its damaged or half hanging off which ive seen on a few 200/25s!!

If not,
i would say you have a very very weak battery or a duff alternator making the battery work over time.

Had the same problem with my rover 600 a few years back including the lights! basically there was just enough power to run the engine and nothing else, even flooring it would cut out. My alternator had failed.
