Can anyone tell me how to reset the engine management system on a Rover 200 VI 1999? Over the life of the car various things have gone wrong and recently had to replace the exhaust after having a blow in it for a while. It now floods most times when starting - requiring me to remove the fuel pump connector, turn the engine over until it starts on the fuel in the cylinders and then reconnect. Since the exhaust was fitted, the fuel economy has also significantly dropped and however odd it sounds, it must be more than coincidence.

I have heard that the engine management systems are adaptive and if possible, putting back to factory defaults I think in the short term would make it worse, but overall, improve the way the car behaves.

Thanks for any info on this.
