could anyone tell me if you can take the light out that goes round the igintion barrel on my rover 200 and put it onto my rover 25 just wondered if it fits the same and if there is a plug ready there for it in the loom or will it mean i have to wire it in or change anything?

As for as I know the answer is NO. But never hurts to look or try to get it to work.
I'm sure it would be possible but it would be one hell of a lot of fiddling around and modifying bits here and there. The ignition lock housings are different.

It's an orange ring of light around the ignition key-hole, to help you finding the slot in the dark without scratching your column surround useless. Comes on with the interior light circuit IIRC.
It's not on all of them. I think it was standard when the indicators and interior light control came in. All the ones I have seen since then don't seem to have them on.
its part of the ignition barrel. Gonna be difficult. i tried it and couldn't get it to work.
Steve
Why hasnt the 25 got it?? Is it a cost cutting measure??

Came in around S reg cars I think it was concluded in another thread.
Cost cutting saw the removal of it. Some of the early 25's had them as they wear still using the 200 parts that wear left. I had a look at one that was in stock at work with a current 25 one and it appears there is only one wire for the light. I think the earth is done through the main earth of the switch but I think it would be more hassle then it's worth to install it.
