Just done the resistor as 1&2 fan speeds stopped working. Got a new resistor on ebay for £4.50 +p&p & after reading on forums how to change them I had a go. Just 4 screws (8mm) to undo, I did it in 15mins, so while I was at it I changed the pollen filter as well which required another 4 screws to be removed as the cross stay fouls removal of filter. All in all about half an hours work for which I got a quote for £132. New filter cast £11.40 Euro parts, so £17.80 all in. I quite enjoyed doing it as it was very easy. Don't know how long resister will last but at that price who cares.
