Take your cigarettes out of the cubbyhole just above the radio. The packet is blocking the infrared beam.

As well as checking there is nothing in the line of sight between the sender (under the eyebrow) and the front of the radio, also check that the sender is still properly fixed in its correct position.

Also, some Kenwoods have the infra red receiver on the left side and some on the right. Similarly the sender under the eyebrow can be mounted left or right to match. If the sender has been fixed on the incorrect side they can be temperamental.

 

Ha! Don't smoke, I always thought it was a cd rack! I'll listen to Radio 4 and see if that works. Not as mellow as Rammstein though...thanks for the tips.

 

I had the same problem as you then I discovered compressed air in a can and after spraying around the controls and receiver it has never done it again.
