Rear Suspension problem

Hello Guys,
I bought my Rover 75 Connoiseur CDT SE a few weeks ago. Love it! Have discovered a bit of a problem with the suspension though. I noticed that whenever I drive over a bump, or particularly when I drive over a hump and the car comes down on the other side, I hear a scrape, which sounds like my rear nearside tyre is momentarilly scraping part of the bodywork. Having looked at both sides of the car, I notice that it sits lower on the nearside than the off. (The gap between the rear wheel and the wheelarch is less on the nearside than on the off side). Before I take it to a mechanic "Blind", would any of you guys be able to suggest what the problem is likely to be, and possibly let me know the difficulty of any repairs and likely cost.
Many thanks
Bill

Hi Bill the first thing for you to check is the springs, these are a common problem on are cars for snapping, check each coil of the spring as sometimes they snap at the bottom or right at the top of the spring, sometimes its hard to see.

Replacing the springs is very easy job to do, but first find out what your problem is,Steve

Beat me to it!

I had a broken rear spring on my ZTT last year, my symptons where a wooly rear end whch used to "float" over big bumps and expansion gaps over bridges.

Not a big job to do ( I chickened out and payed someone to do it!), just make sure you are given the correct springs to match your car ( a pair ), lots of different combos by all accounts.

Thanks very much for your help Guys. I'll check the springs out at the weekend. I've just found this on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW8mFEaRMv4 It shows how to change the spring, which might be useful to anyone else who has got the same problem. And in case anyone is looking for new ones, there are plenty on Ebay. Just a case of finding out the right one.
Would you guys say that it would be better to change both sides at the same time?
Cheers
Bill
