Hey guys,
I have just recently bought new batteries for my key fob. But after replacing them the key fob no longer works. How do i re-programme the key fob with the correct code for my vehicle?

My car is a 214 MKII '95 on an M plate.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Rench

Remove the battery from the fob. press and hold each button down for 4 seconds to completely discharge the fob (it sometimes gets confused otherwise).

Replace the batteries then use the fob to unlock the car. It make take 4 or 5 goes to do it. If in doubt just hold the fob button down for several seconds.

The correct procedure is:
1. remove battery
2. press and hold each button for 5 seconds
3. put in new battery
4. unlock the car with the key then press the lock button 5 times in succession

Car should now lock and fob is resynched.

Er re-programme no !
It will synk in a remote back into a car after fob battery change etc.
If it`s a new/replacement fob it will need re-programming in using 5as kit

I assumed he meant resync not actually re-programme.

I'm sure there is a way to re-program the key fob without the cost?
Nope, you need the right kit to access the the 5as to program the fobs in.
Around £25 at a dealer or anyone with the kit. A few of the guys on here have the kit.

just for the record in case anyone else has this prob, I assume M39 solved their prob. but I ve had battery probs and have had to re sync my fob. Like the others said not re programme you pay for that.the book that comes with the car tells you unlock the door with key then press the dimpled button 4(i think) times (the lock button)then the car should lock and everything ok. however in practice mine took about 10 -20 presses before it locked the car. but it works.

Well i have been told that if you put the key in the ignition but dont start the engine and quickly and repeatedly press the lock button on the keyfob it will be programmed to your car and the central locking will kick in and lock the doors?
