Hi. I have a 97 MGF VVC and recently was stuck in traffic with smoke pouring out of the engine bay. After about 5 minutes, I could pull over and get the F towed home. I have checked the oil cap and dipstick and there doesn't seem to mayonnaise from a failed head gasket. There are signs of coolant on the engine shield, particularly towards the driver seat.
Hopefully it is just a burst hose or coolant cap, but tips on what I should check would be appreciated. So far there isn't anything obvious, but I'll take any suggestions.

Thanks all.

Thanks all. I'll have a good look this afternoon as it is definitely MG weather now.

An update. I filled the expansion tap up about half way and it started dripping out from under the engine, about the passenger side of the engine, RHD. I'll jack it up in the weekend (after I clear my old kitchen out of the way) and see if there is anything obvious. Anything you all can think of?

Thanks

You guys are brilliant, I owe you beers! Yup it was the same hose. I am trying to work out the replacement. I think it is this one, but before I get the wrong hose sent around the world it pays to check.
Again thanks for your help.
