Maybe you should check you spark plugs / leads also. Higher octane should stop pinking, but if you try hard enough and really short shift and are going up a fair gradient you can induce this effect.

My old Granada used to pink going up long inclines, and had to use a lead substitute after they discontinued with 4 star petrol...but as said cant see the k series doing this, are you going up a hill and struggling in 5th gear or something?

when going up a really long but not too steep a hill I generally use 3rd gear doing 35mph at 2500 rpm how does this compare with other 200 owners??
