Just picked up my second MGF. The first was a 1997 British Racing Green, but it was so bad the ragtop and doors were basically just for decoration so it turned into a swimming pool whenever it rained!
A fellow Kiwi!
Mine is a 1997 MGF British Racing Green, she needs a bitta work. Imagine the odds if I bought your old car! Unlikely tho, but there she is.

Nice Recaros, Mr Mann! No, that isn't my one. My number plate started with XZ, and she went to Northland to a woman who restores classic cars for a hobby. I thought about keeping her for a project, but she was beyond my very limited skillset. A few years on, and I couldn't resist the little red one.

I've noticed there's quite a few MGF drivers around where I live (Gulf Harbour, Auckland). They seem a pretty popular little car.

I'm in the deep south, not a lot of them down here sadly (only seen 3 others), and not a lot of European car servicing places either. To be quite honest it's most probably above my skill set as well, but I'll use it as a reason to learn cars. After all there is an amazing number of guides online and an awesome community to go with it so I figured it to be a good one to start my car modifying journey with (also it's kind of an easy car to work on in regards to the interior). You'll most probably be seeing more of my threads around, asking simple and seemingly dumb things. But hey a mistake is only bad if we don't learn from them.

Well there's plenty more but i wouldn't wanna take up too much space
Can't see any reason why you guys can't have one seen as there's one in the 75/ZT section.

Go on then, who's first?
Here's a few of an Irish MGF.

3 weeks into my ownership of an ex-press fleet TF160. My plan is to use it primarily as a track day car so a few mods were planned such as fitting a sports exhaust, uprated brakes and a Kmaps re-map.

The car was in reasonable condition and went well on the test drive. It came with a fresh M.O.T and no advisories but.............

Once I got it home and onto my ramp I noticed a bent rear trailing arm where it had probably been jacked up at some point.

First job was to replace the old and mixed make tyres with a new set of Toyo Proxes. Whilst at the tyre fitters they noticed a damaged rear wheel stud so that was added to the to do list.

The cam belts were 5 years old so changing those were the next job as well as a full service including new plugs and fitting a Pipercross panel filter. Nothing was straightforward and several seized bolts caused no end of issues culminating in new engine mountings, I also had "Torque tamer" bushes done. At the same time we replaced the damaged wheel stud which entailed removing the rear hub so that also meant a new wheel bearing. A new rear trailing arm was fitted at the same time.

Next was the exhaust, a new stainless system was ordered but on inspection it also required a new cat and lambda sensor, once these were fitted it was ready for Kmaps to do their magic and this was completed with a home visit.

Following the suspension work I took it for 4 wheel alignment, the before readings were all out apart from the corner with the new trailing arm. The after is now perfect.

This afternoon I'm going to fit a brake servo brace kit and then take it for a good test drive.

Next jobs are to install Xpower MK.1 roll hoops, fit Mintex M1144 racing pads, and get the drivers seat repaired:

Hi all,
This is my first post on this site.
Have had the car for a little over two years and have enjoyed most of it.
I have been a member of the Epping Area MG owners club for about the same time. The club is relatively small, but I have met some fantastic people and have gone on many outings.
At the moment the car is resting in my garage, awaiting spring and some tlc.
The head gasket gave up the latter part of last year, it was changed, together with belts and water pump by an MG technician/mechanic. Since then the car has only done a few miles.
I changed the oil/filter when we got the car, the mechanic obviously changed the oil after the gasket replacement and my first job in the spring will be another oil change and coolant change.
There are other jobs to do, but I won’t bore you with them.
Take care,
Best regards,
Jack.

New(ish) member, and I hope I can taker prettier pictures in the Devon lanes near home, but here are a few of the best efforts so far, including rust at the rear-end of one sill. Will be attacking/investigating and rust treating that zone when I have the time.

Rust at the joint between sill and other bits now treated and (hopefully!) cured for the next few years. Can anyone suggest methods of getting Waxoyl or similar liquids into the hollow

sill sections? Is that rubber plug circled in red an access point to the sill?:
