The world premiere of the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ film, held today (December 6) in Leicester Square, sees a 1912 Rover Landaulette in a staring role.  What wasn’t expected when the initial approach was made to product placement manager Richard Griffith was that he would appear in the film as Raoul's Chauffeur.   Product placement manager, Richard Griffith, said: “It was a new challenge to my role, driving the highly valuable Rover in the Phantom of the Opera film scene when Raoul arrives at the Opera House.  I was told it was "the big money shot" and that I simply needed to come to a gradual halt on an exact spot, for a camera to focus on the Rover.  The camera was remote controlled and suspended between two cranes 200 metres apart with over 100 extras and crew looking on, so there was no pressure then!"

I think MGR chose the right person to lead the PR.

Interesting the article mentioned a 1911 Austin Town Carriage, a 1914 Austin Vitesse Tourer and a 1919 Wolseley Stellite are in the film.

Especailly this one:
"Austin - Vitesse - Tourer"
Hmmm. Food for thought.
