I am considering setting up a web site after my own troubles so that people can hire car parts.

e.g for a few pounds you can have a cam sensor posted to try on your car instead of gambling on buying one. If it cures the problem you have saved pounds as you know what the problem is.

If we stock all manor of common failing parts, sensors, pumps, ecu etc etc then you could have a box shipped for a complete diag / replacement . We could sell the parts to you or you could source from a scrap yard.

just a thought

Excellent idea, it's a little bit like a spares pool (I'm in the aerospace business).
You would have to consider clearly identifying the spares sent out, they will in effect be a 'master' set of known serviceable items. You could spray them red or something.
Also how would you guarantee that the spare is still ok when returned, if the customer's car had a problem that caused the failure of the ecu etc, it may also blow yours! May not always be visually obvious and you probably have no way to fully test sensors etc.
You would have to consider carefully the range of spares you offer.
Sure these could be worked around though, good luck with your idea.
