Hi to you all, I thought my car was running fine if just a little jittery but my mate just put his code reader on my car and it came up with that fault.

I have done a search on it and know it is the P1521 Variable Intake Solenoid #1 Circuit Malfunction but have not found a thread that says what you do to to fix it and were it is i should be looking.

Many thanks

Michael

thats for mems 2j. you have mems3 but pretty similar.
you have a vvc fault, never seen 1521. iirc that could be a cam sensor problem rather than the actuation or the mechs, i'll try and get back to you at some point. i cant fully remember but vvc faults are 1520,1521,1522 and maybe 1524 and 1530. 1521 being a strange one. check the fragile cam sensor wiring and ecu earth, the cam sensor can be checked with an oscilloscope. i did have a typical readout somewhere........

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem - did you change your head gasket at all?

Hi
My first time on this blog I'm proud owner of 53 plate MGTF 160vvc that has just recovered from a HGF only to be finding the same symptoms as the above just hoping someone has some advice as I'm thinking of checking out the cam shaft sensor circuits (when it gets a bit warmer)

p1521

Hi just new to the site
I was looking for a similar fix to the problem Miky7 has exact symptoms just had hg done and error code p1521 plus amber warning light on dash?anyone shed some light.
I have followed a similar thread indicating a problem with the cam servo connections , but no one ever indicated which one connected where mine is brown left and blue right car goes well, may be a little rattle when reved
Any help much appreciated Ian TF160

It could be that you vvc unit is not set up right. I will know more about it after the 18th of this month.

Amber lights back on folks! reading P1521 Iv'e noticed the revs are being limited to 5.5 I removed the brown & blue plugs one at a time & revved the engine - no faults? swapped both the plugs over to the wrong positions & revved it still no faults ran it with both sensor plugs off - still no faults the revs are being limited no matter what I try with the sensors. Am I looking in the wrong place?
