why should we worry about oil overheating every car i've had as never had a temp' gauge so i would'nt know wether the oil was overheating or not so why should i take any notice of the mg ,,,or is it just an extra gadget to look good but you don't really need it ??

Oil is fine up to around 155°C, i dont think your gauge goes up that high does it ? !!:p Its also doubtful it will ever reach that temperature during normal driving in the UK, apart from on a track in the height of summer in Dubai !!

the reason i'm asking is cause when i went to wales last weekend [ in a race with nikk] it was the first time i pushed it ,and noticed that the gauge nearly went onto the red and felt i ought to slow down it also seemed to jump about abit so wandered if it was a true reading ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but then thought to myself ,,,,,i never used to worry about it in the coup'e so why should i in the mg
