number plate bulb replacement, quick question.

hi i am going to replace the standard bulbs in the number plate lights to 12v 18LED blue bulbs.
is this legal or do the bulbs have to be white?

i used to have blue LED number plate lights, have changed purely because water was getting in and filling them with algae (but they were still working:dunno:)

now got 10w festoons, and it looks awesome with the extra light.
although the handle does get quite warm :lol:

don't think you'll pass an MOT with them, but you shouldn't get pulled.

yeah water gets in on mine too, maybe they are just badly designed?
ah ok 1 bulb is out already so i will have to get replacement ordinary bulbs for MOT.

Swaping bulbs a lot with cause water ingress as it weakens the seal, I re-foamed my Tailgate Handle to give a nice seal as this is where most of the water comes from, plus I raided the scrappy a few times to grab some seals for the light units themselves to get the best ones !!!

I then fitted 4x SMD (New style LED chips) to both the 25X and Recently the 200X, they are white, very bright and perfectly leagal, to keep corrosion of the exposed circuitry to a minimum I put clear silicone over the contacts !!!
