I am having problems with the radiatior fan on my 1998 214si, when the car is driving everything is fine, but when i stop and idle the car, the temp guage starts to slowly rise. I noticed that the radiator fan does not apper to be coming on. I decided to test the temp sensor by putting it into a bucket of boiling water while the car was running, the fan never came on.

i did finally get the fan to come on with the use of a mini blowtorch :err: directly onto the removed temp sensor, so i am guessing that the sensor is knackered. Where can i get a new one and does anyone have a part number for it?

I take it you tested the brown sensor on the coolant elbow? It's used by the ecu to control fuelling as well as determining the switch on point for the fan.

Your fuel economy will be suffering big time.

The part number for the sensor is MEK000030.

Xpart dealers will be able to supply it, or try Rimmer Bros. / Best Of British who should supply by mail order.
