no compression
i have a freelander 1.8 which has had the head skimmed and replaced due to hgf but there was no compression on building back up so took the head off and put another gasket on and rebuilt it but still no compression! took the hydrolic tappets out and refilled them with new oil and replaced them still nothing! im at my wits end and tomorrow will try a tow as the last resort as ive been told it can help get the compression back ! any advice would be appreciated thanks

Why/how have you filled the tappets with oil? Take the cam cover off turn the engine by hand to get cylinder 1 at tdc. Look at the cam lobes on cyl 1. The lobes should be pointing away from each other slightly downwards. If not turn the engine over by hand 180 degrees so cyl 1 is at tdc again and take another look.

Did you remove the camshaft wheels?
Squirt some oil into the bores and see if the compression returns.
Timings 180 degrees out :wink:
the tappets have been taken out drained and refilled (a 2 hour job) the timing has been set bang on by a mechanic we even towed the car to see if that would help but still not a peep not even moving the tester needle!
been stripped down for a head skim and rebuilt and set up spot on by my friend who is a mechanic
Take the cam cover off. Get it to tdc on cyl 1. Take a pic of the cam lobes
