Just a bought 1999 (but registered in late Dec 99 and is recorded on the original sales slip as a 2000 model, therefore assume is a Mk2) MGF 1.8 VVC with 29K on the clock, I live in Watford, N London As few simple questions:
a. The car came with a single key and key FOB, so I need a second as a spare. Key seems pretty simple (ebay uncut), but how/where do I get a new Fob programmed to the car ? What is the likley cost ?
b. I have heard a lot about head gaskets and cam belts. The cam belt was changed on the car at the 20,000 service. What do I need to get done with the gasket and when (in miles).
c. The car last had a service about 15 months ago (6,000 miles) can you point me in the right direction of a suitable specialist in N London/Herts area ?
d. The car is without an tonneau (1/2) cover which I hope to buy off e bay. I note a number of posts about different types and some fits are better than others. What do I need for my car, which I think is a Mk 2 ? How can I identify the right type. What should I avoid ?
f. Really small point. There are two small black plastic covers (about the size of an old 1/2 pence) which cover the screw heads of the screws that secure the wing mirrors to the doors. How/where can I get some replacements -none on ebay to date? Minor issue I know.
