I'm fairly happy with my new HS Exclusive, DCT Auto (registered March 2023) but there are some strange behaviours and features which have me puzzled:

1) Speed assist - when I select manual, I can limit my speed if I want to but between ignition on/off cycles it always reverts to off, that seems crazy, why can't it stay on permanently until I deliberately disable it?
2) The car occasionally and randomly starts up in Sports Mode, I usually stick to normal mode.
3) How dark does it have to be for the auto headlights to come on? I was driving in heavy snow, gloomy conditions, wipers full on, and I had to manually switch on headlights. My last 2 cars would have switched on the headlights just for having the wipers on, never mind the light conditions being poor.
4) I have a 1970's style Space Invaders screen for an instrument display, despite the supplied manual showing large analogue style display which I much prefer, as per the test drive model

OK, I've come from high end Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40 so I don't expect perfection, but these are pretty basic annoyances. Its not a case of RTFM, I've been through the manual plenty.
More to follow......

Charles, I'm with you on the instrument display, I much prefer an analogue display. I went into my local dealer and asked if there was an update to the handbook as it showed the wrong display, his (curt) answer was that MG have stopped issuing handbooks and that I had to download it from their website. I asked if this was the case how come they not only supplied me with a handbook but that it was wrong, all I got was a shrug.

I later checked the downloadable manual and guess what? It's also wrong. I went back to the dealer and fortunately the original person I spoke to was busy. I then spoke to a far more helpful salesman who expressed surprise about this and set about checking. The one that comes closest is the PHEV manual, this shows a digital dash but it's still not correct as it's aimed at the PHEV functionality.

What I find annoying is the centre section of the screen shows a picture of the car as if I'm sitting on the roof, this area could have been far better used to display useful information.

I live in (probably in vain) hope that there will be a software upgrade that'll allow me to change the screen, possibly to an analogue display or at least to use the centre of the screen to display useful information. I'm aware you can use this area to display real time mpg, distance etc. but it still has a picture of the car, do MG possibly think I might forget what I'm driving and therefore need to constantly remind me?

Yes it's poor that there's no 'analogue' view for the speedo and rev counter. It would even be preferable to have the HS Hybrid display which, from pictures I've seen, has speed / rpm references around the edge of the display and a digital pointer moves accordingly along with the digital readout.

I think the car starting in Sport Mode occasionally is my fault. To toggle between normal and sport mode you can pull back the auto gear select knob (in addition to the mode push button), I probably from time to time pull it back more than once to be absolutely sure I'm in Drive, especially if there's something behind me! I'll just have to change my behaviour regarding gear select

This is a real bugbear of mine and it's made worse by the fact that for some reason, the rear lights aren't on during the day when on auto.

I was driving in heavy rain on the M1 on Saturday and had to turn my lights on simply because I was concerned about being rear ended.
