Regarding poor mpg. over last 5 months ish it has went from 34mpg down to a shocking 23mpg. Same driving conditions, i dont floor it, revs stay less than 2.5k, unless on motorway, majority town driving...

Took it in for a service (needed one), thought that might help but stiill nothing, might be lucky if i get 25mpg this time round, so if anything slight improvement. Cant even put it down to cold weather conditions because it was decreasing before the winter weather and still the same now.

Is there anything i could check for i.e fuel leak/fuel tank leak/(new)fuel filter/lambda sensor etc... Just trying to rack a few ideas out of what could be causing poor mpg.

Thanks for any advice.

hi m8 i drove 265 miles today from burton upon trent to scotland and i put ÂŁ50 in my car and ive still got a quarter of a tank left i think you should change your fuel filter if you arent getting the correct mileage for your car theres something wrong with it m8 a service should have sorted this out .

A service isn't a magic fix unless the fuel filter was faulty but you'd find the car would suffer from fuel starvation, cutting out etc, get a diagnostic check done on it, regardless if the light is on or not, this will stop all be guess work and throwing money at it for no reason start with the basics. This if its an electrical problem ie lambda etc will get picked up on the Ecu memory

idle's smooth, revs normally, cant say i can smell any fuel etc... maybe a little slower than it used to be (power loss)...

i'll be getting brakes and handbrake checked in few days, make sure there not sticking etc, and take it from there regarding diagnostic test. cheers

maybe someone else can confirm or just tell me to go sit back in my corner,

isn't there a pair of temperature sensors, one does the dial and the other does fan on/off and 'auto choke' for want of a better description.

if the car still thinks it is cold for some reason, it might be using extra fuel to save damage to the cylinders.
