Hello there everyone

I brought myself a new MGF 22 years ago (T reg) and have really enjoyed it, but over the past few years, it has just sat on my driveway and I've hardly driven it. Saying that I always get it serviced and MOT'd each year, infact I just had it MOT 'd last month again.

The trouble is I do not use it enough and now things are starting to go wrong with it. I've done less than 1000 miles in it over the past three/four years and it's only done 50,000 miles since new. I have a family now and have a larger car and my MG is starting to get expensive to use in London with the london congestion and emission zone taxes it cost £30 a day to drive it, and that's before road tax and insurances etc. Also there are speedhumps and traffic lights everywhere.

I went to use it today and the clutch went straight to the floor, I expect its hydraulics. This time enoughs enough.

I'd like someone who will enjoy fixing it up out of London to take it way ( with love!). I don't want it to go to a scrap yard!

The car still looks great and I'm very upset about losing it.

Not really sure what to do with it any ideas?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Best

Mark

Hello Mark, I feel for your plight in having to part with the car, but no doubt it’s a realistic and practical decision at this time.
Your post suggests ‘come and take it‘ , and if this is the case then personally I would beware, since it may end up with someone who just wants to make a few bob, rather than finding it a longer term enthusiastic home. If it were mine, I would be advertising it in say Classic Car Weekly ( there are more) and letting it find a good home at modest price. You can judge the acceptable price according to your feel for the potential buyer.
Good luck and kind regards, Austin.
