Hello everyone.
Just bought TF115, 06 registration with 46000 miles on the clock. Everything is great the only few concerns are the throttle pedal, it has tiny gap and when pushed it goes through the gap first and only than I get acceleration. the other thing is how to find out when it's time to change the coolant, clutch and brake fluids? I heard some of them need changing every 2 others every 4 years.
It has passed MOT this April. is that mean i should just check lelels of fluids, oil, tyre pressure etc till the next one. And that's when I'll do full full service to be assured I got it well maintained.

Any advise or suggestion will be apreciated.

Many thanks

:welcome:

I've moved your post here as you will get a better response to your questions.

Coolant and cambelt need changing every 4 years or 60K miles, brake fluid should be done every 2 years and I would do the clutch at the same time.

Yes Christ, I will change the fluids just to be on the safe side. It might cost me more if I dont. if only I had garage I'd have tied to do it myself.
Don't think my neighbours will appreciate the draining process. :guns3:

Hi Mic4eal, welcome to theforum, and the Mgf/tf section, nice car, good choice.

The easy way to adjust the slack out of the cable, is to open the boot, as you stand looking at the car there is a mesh grille........

Many thanks Steve. I will try to do what you said. Hope it will solve the issue. But at the same time I think to myself what of that's normal for TFs. Need another TF to compare. I will try anyway.

Looking forward to some events. North Lake run sounds very promising.

I will take it to the garage to check transmition as it pulls a bit to the left.
Heard tire pressure is the most common cause the wheel pull. Any ideas?

I'll change the cambelt at the same time.

Hello Mic4ael and . Very nice looking TF you have there! There are quite a few .orgers in your area, so you might wanna keep an eye out for any local meets.
I'm often popping down to London, so will wave (as I always do) at any MG's in passing
Hi Lillipad. it's so uncomon to see TFs these days. Seems like it's a very small club. So if I see someone waiving I'll know it's you ))

Welcome to .org

This official service schedule should be of some help
http://www.apttony.co.uk/Pics/MGTFMaintenanceCheckSheet.pdf

There isn't any replacement period for brake disks and pads, just a period to inspect them and replace if they are in poor condition or have reached minimum thickness.
That's of a great help Tim! I've just downloaded the cd with all workshop, overhauls manuals, electricals etc, and realized it's a very time consuming hobby :s2h:

Once again, appreciate all you insights on the topic. It's like home for me now. Havn't got to the madhouse part yet. Cant wait till I can contribute something myself to it, and looking forward to meet everyone...

hey and welcome to .org!

nice TF by the way :)

the play in the throttle peddle is common, it is because of some slackness in the cable on the throttle body itself

this can be adjusted but i dont have any pictures to hand of how to do it, im sure someone more awake than me will pop along soon and explain :)

i'd check your tyre pressures a bit more often, about once a month... well worth 20p as a few PSI can make a bigg difference, especially if you driver...err enthusiastically :D

You pay for air?

It would be fun to see them try that over in Sweden.... :spank:

Hi Mic4eal, welcome to theforum, and the Mgf/tf section, nice car, good choice.

The easy way to adjust the slack out of the cable, is to open the boot, as you stand looking at the car there is a mesh grille where you check the oil and water etc, this just lifts out, roughly in the middle you will see the throttle body and nearest to you the throttle butterfly with the accelerator cable going to it, follow the cable back from the butterfly it is mounted about 4" back by an adjustable plastic/rubber square washer, this just pulls out, it is on a threaded portion, turn this clockwise to shorten the cable, push it back in and check for correct adjustment. when correct refit the cover.

Wellcome! Some very nice people over here, and in no time you'll feel like at home.

My advice is, to change liquids and other fluids right away, and then you know for sure they have been changed. Reset your trip meter so you work ahead for the next 2 years.

And you may have not changed it yet, but cambelt will have to be changed soon.

Hello and welcome to the madhouse from me too!! Very nice TF mate.
Definitely look into getting your cambelt done as soon as you can, if it goes it will be far more expensive.

You should also get the water pump changed at the same time, they are not a lot at about ÂŁ28 for the pump and only takes ten minutes when the belt is off.

If you don't know any friendly local garages, there are likely to be people on here who can recommend someone not too far away or speak to friends to see if they know of one.

Hi there! I'm from Shepherds bush W12. For the past week havnt seen a single TF passing by. very small club we are in :)

Manual foot pump with a gauge are a waste of time, pop down to Halfords and get one of their 12v electronic pumps where you can set the tyre pressure and it will cut off at the set pressure.
that's a very handy tool. it can also be used for airbeds  any upcoming camping MG events? :)

they also have 12v hoover. I think I will end up filling up my boot with all these gadgets, airbed and swimming pool

Welcome to TF ownership.

It's always good to see new faces on here, because between you and me the rest of them on here are weird ;)

I'm coming down to Londonshire area this weekend, but the closest I will get is the M25 (probably for the best :) )

Has the TF had it's timing belts done as they are due this year if it was registered in 2006.
