ok....so of late i've noticed that there is a "puff of smoke" when i start up in the morning. I pulled the plugs and found plugs two and three to be soaked with oil (my poor platinums..). And this morning, the car has developed a miss

does this mean that my valve seals are gone? or is there a deeper and darker problem that needs addressing?

Could be valve stem seals as you mention, especially if there isn't a lot of oil consumption. Of course it could be HGF or worn/broken piston rings if the oil is disappearing fast and it smokes all the time.

When you say soaked by oil how bad are they?

Of course if you've got a dead plug/HT lead then the smoke could be unburnt fuel and it would also account for the misfire too.

87K kms.... have had the HGF done. had the timing belt changed. What i've recently have done is run 2.5 inch exhuast from the down pipe straight out and i run a Hyabusha back box. Idont know if the exhaust change has anything to do with it...

(see pic..)

More likely to be a poorly sealing valve than the valve stem seal at a guess.

Bit of grinding paste and elbow grease.
