For the last three years I've run an MGF/TF servicing day through this forum so here we go again with number 4.
The original concept is to help people get the satisfaction of being able to do the routine servicing of their own car but I'm sure as previous years we will also see people doing those quirky MGF/TF proceedures such as trying to cut out resonator boxes with soldering irons, practicing yoga under the dash whilst replacing heater blower resistors and pulling off door cards to adjust the window stops.
All from here are welcome, be it new peeps or established members alike so get your diaries out
Location :- My office Car Park, 10 Whittle Road, Dorset BH21 7RU. (Yup, deep saath ). I'll open the office for tea making, shelter, lounging etc.
Date :- 26th June from 9:00 until we've all had enough.
The day will be a similar format to previous years with probably 20-30 cars turning up. It is really focussed on people with little knowledge who want to learn but we need a mix of people who know how to service and people who want to learn to make this day successful. More experienced people can swap tales of jobs done etc. Anyway its a good excuse to get together and talk.
Objectives :-
1) To encourage those that haven't, to get the access panel off their engine bay and find out just how easy it is to have a look-see.
2) To help and guide people through DIYing the basic servicing of their own car on the day and learn how to do those little jobs that the stealers charge you ÂŁhundreds for: Oil change, Plugs, Leads, filters, disks, pads, brake fluid, clutch fluid, lube, Gear Oil, etc.
3) To sort out peoples minor problems: heater blowers, clutch arms, suspension etc
4) To help each other and pass on tips and demonstrations of those quirky MG proceedures.
5) To have a blast and get to know each other.
We'll probably get a Barbie going at some point. If there are enough people staying over, no reason that this can't go on until quite late.
We will have 240V Electric and Compressed Air but unfortunately the outside tap is no more so we're down to buckets for any detailing work.
Tools:-
Bring what you have or can fit into your MGF/TF. Helpful if you have axle stands. If you're bringing fluids ie oil, make sure you have something to put the old stuff in to take back home.
I will bring a fairly comprehensive set including Manual, meters, OBD II scanner and a few special tools which you may borrow. - So long you put them back when you're finished with them.
If anyone's got special tools such as a Hydrolastic pump, Testbook etc you're especially welcome to bring them :dddc:
Liability - None. Its all at your own risk. If you bugger your car or someone does it for you - bad luck.
Insurance - None
Event Cost :- Nowt.
Hope to see you there.
Who's coming. Lets get a list going ......
