MGF 1997 non VVC, radio & clock work intermittently

Hi Guys, Willy1954 from New South Wales Australia.

I have owned this car since 2000. Of late, the clock & radio have decided to work when they wish. I have also noticed that the car lock when pressed twice, only blinks once, locks but not immobilized.
Garaging the vehicle overnight, then in the morning all can be good. Today can be a fine example. All good this morning, bled the brakes on the car, returned it home, left in the driveway unlocked, then washed it, found the radio & clock not working, tried locking it, only one blink. Left it in the garage with trickle charge on the battery (the battery was replaced in April 2021).
Chances are, in the morning every thing will be ok. Any suggestions?
Your help will be appreciated.

Is the battery in the fob ok? Maybe change it and then try, but won't solve the clock & radio. Not sure if the wires near the boot hinge would cause the problem you have but maybe worth a check.
Yes, checked battery in fob, measured 3.1volt. Tried 4 to 5 times locking & unlocking with same fob, same result, the lights blink just once, in fact, the more times it is done, the slower the locking mechanism seems to operate.
The car battery seems to measure voltage ok, sitting static, it measure 13.4v. Place the battery on trickle charge and that lasts 30 seconds and says fully charged.....strange.

Will investigate the wiring at the boot hinge. Thankyou.
Check the wiring behind the radio in the dashboard. it is common for some of these wires to become damaged on sharp edges.

Have had the radio out a number of times of late. I shall investigate this area further. Thankyou for your help.
I looked and it seems fuse F12 has both the clock and radio on it coincidence? Try pulling it and cleaning the connections.

Thankyou all for your help. Found the problem. It was the fuse 12 not making 100% contact. Applying a small amount of pressure to the bottom side of the fuse, made the footwell lights & radio come on.
I replaced the fuse as a safety measure, checked the radio, clock and even the immobilizer works. (double clicks & blinks, as it should).

Thanks again for all your suggestions. One to stick "under the hat".

Cheers, Willy
