I am thinking of upgrading the twin su's on my 1972 mgb gt to a twin choke 40dcoe weber carb. Has anybody fitted a 40 weber to their car?? Are there any problems with fitting this carb to the car?? Also does it make the car less driveable at low speed or cause difficulties at idling? How about fuel consumption?

Thanks
Chris

Correctly set up Webers will run fine and give better throttle response in return for slightly increased fuel consumption. However, setting them up could be a problem unless you take it to a specialist. Otherwise you will need to buy lots of spare jets and tubes at great expense.
You will not see much power gain unless you also work on the head, valves and camshaft.
For road use, I would stick with SUs until I had done all the other work and then I would be looking into fuel injection.
