I agree that was very eloquent. How eloquently put!
Though the MG6 is way to big a car for me, the MG 3 would be a good practical replacement/addition to the TF one day.
For who? is there some kind of major event we have overlooked that precludes any car post July 2013?That far too late.........
They have looked back at mg heritage and seen all previous models with an mg badge are at least 3 years out of date so decided not to break this tradition by launching the Mg 3 too soon.It doesnt look up to date now, so unless they develop some special age defying & rejuvenating paint it will look more so in 12 months time.![]()

I agree, whilst it hasn't adopted the droopy and blobby look of cars like Citroen or Peugeot this is not a bad thing. Look at the rather squared and plain Polo, I bet VW get more life out of that design that PUG or Citroen do with theirs and the reason is that cars so styled towards fashion date horribly and rather quickly. Even Fiat with their Punto took a more conservative approach than Vauxhall did with the same platform and I'd argue the Punto still looks good, the Corsa looks dated.Says the man driving a prehistoric at launch maestro and ZS!
Everton benchmarking I know.
It will be fine, though peeps are talking of major changes, I won't hold my breath, remembering talk on here in the past regarding the MGR facelifts (there were people on here who swore that the 45/ZS were getting rebodied and that the facelifts were so radical you'd not recognise them over the previous models)
Let alone RDX60 or indeed the MG6.
I'll wait and see what happens, reserve final judgement til I see what in the flesh and see how it drives etc.
Styling is a subjective thing, many don't like the cutesy styling of a lot of small cars at the mo, or the fussy styling of most Korean/Japanese cars, fiesta etc.
The MG3 seems to fall somewhere in the middle, along with the swift and fabia, and funny enough I like the styling of these two cars too!
MG need to hit this bang on target though, full range, excellent drive, economy, emissions and I expect they know that!
At least facilities such as finance etc are there at launch, unlike when the 6 was Launched.
I purchased a ZS 180 as it looked sporty, goes well and you couldnt touch it for the price. I still think they look quite good and something a bit different, one still turns heads. But yes they are out of date and I wouldnt argue otherwise. But thats my point the ZS had something that made you buy it even though it was based on a out of date Honda, MGR polished a turd and gave you something that shouted in your face and makes you smile when your driving it.I agree, whilst it hasn't adopted the droopy and blobby look of cars like Citroen or Peugeot this is not a bad thing. I personally like the look of the 3 - I just think the frontal arangement needs to be a little more bold which I think they might address in the Euro version.
As for the "out of date" comments from some on here, I also agree with you Peter, these are probably the same people who thought the ZS was fine in 2005 despite it very obviously being a 10 year old model, itself based on an even older one. Laughable really!
I had heard that a range of MG merchandise is being released with the MG3,these include but is not restricted to - a stick on beard, a tweed jacket with leather patches on the elbows, and the must buy MG item for all MG enthusiasts the obligatory flat cap available in vibrant colours such as grey and black, grey and grey and not forgetting grey an brown. The MG3 is all new and yet looks like something my Granny should be driving, maybe if they come in hearing aid beige with a free pipe and slippers I might be tempted, hell I could even swap the Maestro for one.
Is the merchandise being adapted from Chinese specification ? If so have they said which millennium for the launch ?I had heard that a range of MG merchandise is being released with the MG3,these include but is not restricted to - a stick on beard, a tweed jacket with leather patches on the elbows, and the must buy MG item for all MG enthusiasts the obligatory flat cap available in vibrant colours such as grey and black, grey and grey and not forgetting grey an brown.
My 18 year old son thought his grandad had brought a new car when he saw a red ZS parked outside our house, he said it looked like an old mans car, but thinks the MG3 is cool.
He is an apprentice at a v/w garage, says it all!Bless there's no taste in your family at all![]()
I had heard the leather patches on the elbow looked more like plastic so they are having a rethink on patch quality before launch. Is the merchandise being adapted from Chinese specification ? If so have they said which millennium for the launch ?opcorn:
The MG3 could be cool, time will tell if they manage to pull that off.
