Will be interested in seeing the results :broon:

And I'll maintain 3drs are just as safe as 5drs.
To each their own. Three doors for your and four for me (or 5 if it must be hatch or wagon).

But the chances of their being a 3 door MG any time soon are still probably Buckley's and none.
well tbf if the passengers can't find a way out of the back then they obviously need assistance anyway.
plus, how many children old enough to release their own seatbelt would have the presence of mind to exit the vehicle and get clear incase it blew up (very unlikely, but ....)

also, fire and rescue don't tart about getting access to vehicles. if someone is trapped, the roof comes off. end of.
they have even cut the roof off perfectly good vehicles not involved in accidents because kind passers by have let the injured person have a seat.

You seen the xross? Looks preety decent tbf. Best come in 3dr though or it's ruined for me

The shell is also typically stronger.

I thought 3drs were stronger too. But I wasn't going to bring it up without any evidence.

They don't tend to race/rally 5-door cars if there is a choice. This can be partly for obvious marketing reasons and part simple logic about shell weight and strength (of course they may weld up the back doors on a 5-door!).
Well if mg refuse to put out a 3dr there's always the option of that.

Or buy from a manufactor who will?
If the pictures are anything to go by, this is a first class effort. This is just the car to re-establish MG in the country of it's birth.

Just a shame they're Chinese cars "inspired" by other European designs. I just think despite my genuine love for MG, these are pretty taky cars. The MG 6 examples I have seen which are around 1 year old now, are suffering corrosion on brake hubs, exhaust boxes, brake calipers...

Cheap. I can't imagine the 3 will be better

Same as most other manufacturers cars then

Lol that's exactly what I was going to say.

Cast iron parts on my Peugeot 207 CC went red rusty after 2 months including the front suspension arms.

I have restored many a classic car and been disappointed that all those nice shiney parts I have fitted have a surface corrosion before I have put the car on the road . Corrosion is a natural phenomenon and it does not matter what country a car is built in !

By the way the Japense Toyota Aygo is that not inspired by the Europeon Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 ?

And aren't most European cars inspired by other European cars too!?

I just don't get the problem people have with MG's new cars. If they came here looking like they had just come out of a paddy field they'd be criticised for looking Chinese yet because they look European (probably because they are designed and engineered right here in the UK) they are criticised for trying to look European.

If people don't like the car then fine, I don't much care for the Vauxhall Corsa or Ford Fiesta but I don't start ripping them apart for their US ownership because, frankly, it hasn't got anything to do with it!
I don't get it either. Frankly the 6 is the most Chinese looking car I've ever seen :dunno:

And built in Europe.

Not sure what the obsession is with how cars "look" in terms of Geography?

I am not sure what a "chinese" car looks like, because most of them look rather like unfamiliar European cars, so too with US cars, because they also look like vaguely familiar larger versions of old-fashioned European cars. The reason is because the cars are not familiar to us, we are used to seeing distinct shapes and badges and when we don't see that, naturally, our brain recognises the difference in minute detail. The truth however is that all of these cars are essentially the same, 4 wheels with a metal body of approximately the same shape and size.

For anyone who has ever paid attention to (or been forced to endure) a UK insurance advert where they strip everyday cars of badges and try to make them anonymous, you will know that your attention is drawn to the cars simply because they instil a reminder in your brain of something you have seen before.

I fail to see however, how, given that cars are only ever going to be of a certain design (at least for now) why anyone can lay such daft criticism at any manufacturer for making cars that "remind" poeple of other cars....

Excluding perhaps the blatant Chinese "copy cat" manufacturers (that are an entirely different problem) , every car manufacturer in the world makes a car that looks like another manufacturer's car!

Yes they may all have 4 wheels and a body, but you can tell where a car was designed just by looking at it.

Mg's have been sporty looking, and the older mgr stuff was Agressive. None of that IMHO applies to the 6

Jap cars are very angular for instance.

French cars usually have a face thats cutie looking and off the wall.

Fords and vauxhalls look the same

German cars look bored.
Oriental stuff tends to be quite rounded and soft edges, which for me tends to look boring and not sporty. Kia and co used to be like this until recently when they hired top European designers and are now being seen as on the same level as Ford etc.
