Ah, that explains what the cable kit is for complete with bracket & plastic nut.

It's a bit cheaper at Brown & Gammon at £427.

Any thoughts on MG3 spec? I'm test driving this weekend.

I must admit the change is being driven by the need for my 21 & 18 YO sons to drive & their insurance costs. If I had my way I would keep the ZT which I've had since new in 2003 :frown:

I thought the 3 was well packaged with an interior that wasn't trying too hard to be different. Lots of room inside as well. I like the 6 ( also great value) but the insurance for the boys would give me a proper nose bleed.

Thanks Figo,

Thats a really good insurance cost for the Mrs - presumably she has been driving for a while?

I got some insurance quotes and, predictably, my 18YO has a much greater effect that the 21YO on the cost - both will be new drivers when they eventually get to drive the car.

I've gone for an MG3 which I will hopefully collect next week. I will review once I get some miles on it.

ZT should be on Autotrader in the next few weeks :-(

We have one of the Sat Navs fitted to my brother Nicks MG3 at Summit Garage, we're only in Dudley, so call in if you want to have a look at how it operates.
John - Thanks for the offer but I think I will get use to the car and then decide on the sat nav.

Why don't you write a review as there seems to be very little info on the unit?

you can buy a tom tom with speed camera updates and time of life map updates... for under £200 you can take it out of the car just by unclicking, it, and use it anywhere, ie, after you park the car and need directions to walk through a city centre you have never been to before, with all the places of interest, and just the place you want to walk to... highlighted and directed.. or you can plug it into your laptop, and use it there too... why have a machine that can only be used in your car?, would you buy a phone that cost £427 and could only be used in your car... ha.. money for nothing... and the cheques are free..
Incony - I tend to share your logic & your view, I have this removable set up in my ZT using a wired Brodit clamp and it has been a good solution.
However, I have a Landrover with a built in sat-nav and think it's great - it is always ready to be used with no set-up to do each time you use the car & better security. I do like tech but I agree there seems to be no logic to in having an expensive sat-nav in a cheap car.

If this had been a £300 option when buying new I would have had it. Does seem a tad expensive to buy later on though. Nice to see they are offering quality upgrades, so fair play to MG.
Mattie - your wish is my command:

8"Capacitance Touch Screen Car GPS Navigation For Morris Garages MG 3 With USB Player,Bluetooth Music,Car HD DVR: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Just noticed this at £246. It appears to be more than a sat-nav as well. I'm not sure if it runs the same sat-nav software as the 'official' MG unit though.

Seem to be some other options as imports as well. Anyone tried one yet?
