you can buy a tom tom with speed camera updates and time of life map updates... for under £200 you can take it out of the car just by unclicking, it, and use it anywhere, ie, after you park the car and need directions to walk through a city centre you have never been to before, with all the places of interest, and just the place you want to walk to... highlighted and directed.. or you can plug it into your laptop, and use it there too... why have a machine that can only be used in your car?, would you buy a phone that cost £427 and could only be used in your car... ha.. money for nothing... and the cheques are free..

security should not be an issue.. the sat nav should be removable.. it should be able to be used outside of the car for that money, working on its own stored battery power.. just like an off the shelf sat nav can..
my MGF Freestyle still has its original hi fi... its coded.. if i try to remove it or the battery goes flat in the car.. i have to enter its code.. else it stays inoperable.. if i was designing a new car, its sat nav would be able to be used anywhere, just like a phone can - why would making a security pin be so difficult... ? MGF were doing it with the hi fi 16 years ago..
£ 427 isnt peanuts is it? a weeks wages? you work a week or more, just to get something that isnt easily used at all.. and must remain in the car to work..?
