i got myself a pretty great MG ZT lately, everything seems great for the price. its a bit of a project with some minor issues- very great acceleration until like fourth or fifth gear. i had a peugeot 406 last time and it really went well in fifth gear, about same weight, 70ish horsepowers less- but im starting to doubt if the MG ZT is really 190 horsepowers because it feels so slow in fifth gear? takes maybe 3 seconds to go from 120 to 130 km/h, by my crude approximates it should be a lot faster in fifth gear too than my old peugeot 406. is this normal for MG type cars? maybe MG ZT specifically? unsure if i should put time into trying to diagnose if theres something wrong.
the peugeot 406 was 122 horsepowers and the MG ZT is 190- same weight.

Hello. Some clues:
did you change spark plugs?
Air filter?
Did you verify both VIS motors (balance & power)? If out of order, your engine will be slower & thirstier.
Did you verify the TB?
And of course better to change motor oil if you don't know when it was done for the last time.
Another clue: the petrol filter (within the tank) may be filthy, never say never.
And I may have missed some other points...
But better to begin with the more likely and the cheaper bits...
