Looking to replace central locking door locks for 2005 TF 1.6. Locks for LHD vehicles are a lot cheaper than RHD. Can anyone tell me what the difference is and can a LHD lock be used or converted for a RHD car? Surely a door lock is a door lock? Had to break central locking motor off the passenger door lock to access cog and unlock door when it locked shut, seems a fairly common problem.

I would imagine the difference is due to the key aperture on the drivers door (irrespective if its RHD or LHD). The passenger door doesn't not have a key aperture. Hope that make sense?

Having replaced both my door locks recently, I can confirm that Ian is correct. The drivers' door lock has an additional rod that goes up to the lock barrel and makes it much more challenging to replace (although I reckon if I had to do it again I'd be able to do it quicker now I know).
