I'm seeing MGs around everywhere suddenly, not all of them are brand new but the MG4s are all very new and there are a few 72 reg MG5s, Ill have my guess after Christmas.

Guess time.

December 2021 was 1,126 to give total 2021 of 30,600, which was 13k-25k behind Škoda, Volvo, MINI, and SEAT, all of whom MG should beat this year.

November 2022's 5,062 brought YTD 48,123, needing only 1,877 to beat 50,000 for the year. As of November, MG was 3k-15k ahead of Škoda, MINI and Volvo and 28k in front of SEAT, also 10k ahead of Tesla.

MG also sold 2,700 more than Peugeot (more than double!) in November and were only 2,700 behind them for the year. Do we think MG can beat Peugeot to come in no.11 behind Nissan?

I'm guessing 5,142 for MG (partly depends on the boats, there still seems to be a big backlog) and that they will make no.11.

If it was me at MG Motor and MG were looking like they'd miss the 50,000 target by under 200, I'd be registering cars for everyone's cats, goldfish, and stick insects!

What about "are they going to beat Peugeot YTD?" Too much to ask for 2022?

Well at least one of us didn't miss the numbers coming out yesterday/ With 2,927, MG outsold the 50,000 mark, and outsold Peugeot by 1,499 for the month, but not enough to beat them for the year(still 1,214 behind). However, for Tesla this was an All Our Boat Are Arrive At Once month with a massive 16.368 registrations taking them to the top of the tree. So despite the massive sales increase leaving erstwhile competitors like Renault (32k) and Fiat (20k) in the dust, let alone Suzuki (17k), MG end the year in 13th place with both Peugeot and, surprisingly, Tesla between them and the Top Ten.
No surprise that BEVs outsold diesels 42k to 4k this month, but they also outsold pure petrols 42,284 (BEV) to 42,091 (petrol).

Best selling cars of all marques and types were Tesla Model Y and Model 3 in December: best selling BEVs for the year were alsoTesla Model Y and Model 3. Best selling cars for the year were Nissan Qashqai, Vauxhall Corsa and Tesla Model Y.

Best-selling MG BEV was MG5 in 8th place for the year for BEVs.

So for December, all car types, 1.Tesla 2.VW 3. BMW. For the year 1. VW 2. Ford 3. Audi .

I think this year we will see more HS being delivered to dealers BUT that a lot will be dealer stock and end up being Pre-registered.
My reasoning for this is I have seen a few posts on Facebook from people in dealers sayings they have a transporter delivery with almost any spec you want.

The chips are supposed to be coming through now. The "delivery of your new MG in 12 weeks" promise for many models was surely made about 12 weeks ago, but what about the people who have been waiting and waiting?

I note that MG5 was MG's best-selling EV in 2022 (7,030 - 14% of total sales) and its facelift is coming out (but not yet?) which may depress registrations of the old model.

Cyberster(?) / MGC(?) is creating headlines (and brand awareness) in the magazines, but it was a cold winter that did for DeLorean, it's not as though people will have been wanting to go car shopping much.

I'll go for 3,057 and actually predict a fall from last month though that may be pessimistic. AlfaMack says 2,200.
