MG Monthly UK Registrations

This thread is to discuss, and make guesses about, MG monthly registrations in the UK which are generally on the up - but how much?

I'm not the only fan of MGs who's not here as often as they used to be and I don't think we have the quorum any more to run a separate thread for each month, but if we have a thread with no month in the title, then anyone can start the ball rolling for subsequent months and update the summary of who has guessed what in their own post.

1,404. Simcor wins though sales are just over 1/3 of his guess. The ship hadn't come in yet (though I think the first MG4s arrived a few days ago and some should be registered to customers this month).

I had thought that had to be easily the worst figure since April 2020 but the month before the last reg change was low too (911 in Feb 22)...
MG was only in 16th place in August, outsold by MINI and Dacia(!), also by Citroën and Škoda who both registered over 2,000 cars! Top 4 for August were 1) VW 2) Ford, 3) B*W 4) Vauxhall(!) (no.7 YTD) (Corsa is the UK's best-selling car, although I saw my first one this week, thinking it was some kind of Renault.... some kind of Peugeot perhaps.... and Mokka(wut?) is also a top ten car I can't place, In August Vauxhall had three Top Ten Cars as these two were joined by a Crossland. No,me neither. ;).
MG is hanging on to 12th place YTD narrowly though Škoda are snapping at their heels only 35 registrations behind and that boat had better be full of MGs! Top 3 YTD 1) Ford 2) VW 3) Kia

All far too optimistic. And I thought I may have been a little pessimistic. Alas I was optimistic.

I should have realised that the Reg change would affect Augusts numbers.
So I'll get in early for September and go for 4800

ulp. See you in a week or so.
Maybe we are basically forecasting the arrival of cross-ocean ferries! ;)

REPOST! Friday's got lost. Figures due on Wednesday.

First customer MG4s registered and other models apparently trickling through after many months' wait, but not all.

I've increased my guess by 1,000 to 4,397 to make a game of it.

Manufacturer no.12 in September, only 914 behind Vauxhall at 11 though this was a month when Tesla made registrations and made no.10.
MG was only 1,290 behind Mercedes! and, since ahead of Peugeot, outselling all French marques as well as all Japanese ones except Toyota as usual.
1. Ford 2. VW 3. Toyota

Manufacturer no. 12 YTD (38,312) ahead of Tesla but not Peugeot, and with 50,000(!) a real possibility for the year./
1. Ford 2. VW 3. Kia

I reckon a lot of that was stock being held for the new Reg..
That is a good amount.

In a normal year, August is pretty low and September is really high. There's still an awful lot of peeved people who have been waiting for many months who I think would have taken "August delivery" over "sometime later".

Looks like dozens of cars are still being registered in October, even many a week per dealer. We have also heard they promise to deliver new orders within 16 weeks (except ZS EV 30 weeks and MG4, no promise yet). I am also reading that Chinese business activity has ceased booming... but I wonder if car production is now ramping up? I would have hoped that outstanding orders would take priority.
So I will kick off guesses for October registrations.

oo let me come up with a number.
October 2021 2,339
September 2022 8,759
Entire transporters bringing e,g. 7 new MG3s to a single dealer, so deliveries seem to be picking up.
I'll say 4,678 to be double last year..
MY October guess is. 555
555 that's a rather low guess, I assume a number missed off the end or at the front?
