MG Monthly UK Registrations

This thread is to discuss, and make guesses about, MG monthly registrations in the UK which are generally on the up - but how much?

I'm not the only fan of MGs who's not here as often as they used to be and I don't think we have the quorum any more to run a separate thread for each month, but if we have a thread with no month in the title, then anyone can start the ball rolling for subsequent months and update the summary of who has guessed what in their own post.

July!
I am going for 5600
oo. I'll get my head around July next week!
Just had a good look through the June results. MG probably did best as a percentage rise of the major manufacturers, outselling Nissan though most likely still in the no.12 slot with Tesla taking no.10 from behind MG.

Vauxhall outsold Ford so I make the Top 5 Volkswagen, Vauxhall, Ford, B*W, Kia for the month. YTD it's Ford, Kia, VW, Audi, B*W.

Corsa is best seller for month and year. Strange - I wouldn't recognise one. No.2 for June and no.10 YTD is Tesla Model Y, a car I had to look up. No.9 best-seller of all cars for June: MG HS!

Maybe Ningde are back up and running faster than Zhengzhou.... and is MG5 made at Pukou? Anecdotally still a massive order backlog.
July 2021 2,411.
June 2022 5,378.

I know there's a massive order backlog but as people might start waiting for a 72 reg it would be a punt to guess higher. I'll go 4,042 with AlfaMack on 5,600,
So this time I'll get in before the end of the month to make it legit! I will pop in a conservative 3789.
OK, so at just about quarter to three on the last day of the month:

What , your guess for August Dave lol? It's not like we're overwhelmed with guesses so I'll note it.

Numbers out on Thurs 4th August.

Should have been July Guess 6,050. I don't think the August figure will be any were near that. LOL.

Sorry, I mistyped that. In the absence of further guesses in the next ten minutes you are well placed for a high sales figure subject to cries of "Cheat!" ;)

3.076. Behind MINI but ahead of Peugeot! SpottyCat wins!
Drat! Missed last month and that would have been my guess…maybe ;)
Hmm, in the past this was new registration month and saw a peak, wonder if the latent mindset is the same, let's pop in at 5488.

August is "last month of old reg" month, it used to be "first month of new reg" month from 1967 until about 2001.
Interesting. The last month of 22 reg should be a low reg month but there is a huge backlog of unfulfilled orders, note the posts if MG announces a new model - "but what about actually delivering mine?"

MG4 looks like a sure-fire winner with what I can only call mind-bogglingly glowing reports from the likes of Auto Express and Top Gear which had slated MG6. The low price and (now expected) good availability of MG are suddenly plus points.

MG Motor UK has promised that all open orders will be fulfilled this year and that new orders for ZS EV wlll take 30 weeks, with MG3 and HS petrol 12 weeks and all others 16 weeks. No promise for MG4 yet but the first customers might drive away in their own 4s as soon as September! Apparently, the boat has come in.
Further developments include NIO, BYD and Hongqi announcing they will sell cars in the UK this year, and still expecting GWM Ora - these brands using what distribution method? - with the energy crisis and low water levels in German rivers like Rhine and Danube sure to affect German production. The top of our charts is Kia, Ford and four German brands, this could change.
Two years ago MG was battling Suzuki and Dacia. One year ago it was Citroën and Renault. We would expect MG to have powered past these now - but can MG beat Peugeot this month? I am now looking at the Top 12!

August 2021 1,494
July 2022 3,076

I'm going to guess MG can sell everything they brung and so shall punt on 5,401 which may be high at over three times last year! we're extremely positive, maybe too much so.
