I suppose that if it's likely to have been a record-breaker a lot of dealer registrations may have been made too.

A low total last month is the reason for my very high guess this month. Plus i think there will be a high portion of fleet cars to add.

September is also one of the two big months in the year. For a fleet, now is the time to go electric.

Results out tomorrow! A little mouse with clogs on tells me we're all too pessimistic...

What a month for MG! 49% (Sep) up in a falling market, over 2.5% market share beating not only the New Usual Suspects but also Citroën and Renault...AND Volvo and MINI.... AND SEAT, with even Škoda under 500 cars away this month!

YTD we can see that Volvo, MINI, SEAT, Škoda outsold MG enough already to be likely to beat them for the year, but recent sales weakness by Citroën and especially Renault makes them MG rivals for 2021 along with Honda and Mazda. Who'd have thought that?

As for BEV market share, it is now three times more likely that a new September car is a BEV rather than a pure diesel. Even adding all mild hybrids and petrol-fuelled vehicles to the comparison, BEVs sold about a quarter as much as all of these in September, almost double the proportion for YTD!

Maybe the worldwide chip shortage is having a negative effect on the market?

Cheers..
Surely is. Despite huge sales, it seems that particularly Volkswagen Group procurement is holding back SEAT and even Škoda. MG is delaying the launch of "1965 rear engined Volkswagen saloon grille" facelift MG5 over "2020 Volkswagen Passat grille" MG5 until next year but "Volkswagen 1500 grille" longer range ZS EV is go!

Does SEAT include the Cupra brand I’ve seen a few of lately?
Cupra is now separate and its 1,328 sales for September would have meant SEAT easily beat MG if aggregated. Cupra also thrashed DS's 536, Abarth's 306, and Alfa's 253 - time for French Leyland to resurrect VXR and Manta and consolidate that little lot?
The main brand missing and distorting Other Imports because they deliberately did not want to be separate (?) is Tesla...

I like to watch from the sides.

Cheers..
But then posting the result on the morning it comes out is like when I bought the last Harry Potter from Tesco on the day it came out and the checkout boy opened it at the back and read out the last sentence! Go on, you know you ought to at least have a go. ;)
